Milizette Beauty & Barber Supply has been in operation since 1986. It was founded by Milton Hutchins as he was retiring from his job with the State of Indiana in the Empoyment Division. He purchased a two story building at 2001 Broadway in Gary, IN which contained a barber shop in the front of the building’s space. At the time, there was only one other beauty supply store in the area, so he decided to open a beauty supply store in the rear of the building. He later converted the barber shop to a beauty salon, as the beauty supply store took on more professional lines catering to licensed professionals. Mr. Hutchins was joined two years later by his sister, Betty Lyles to partner with him in this venture, Mr. Hutchins stayed in the business until 2010 retiring at age 89, and Mrs. Lyles worked in the business until 2017 when she was 88. The business is now operated by Mrs. Lyles son, Kevin Lyles who joined the business in 2009 after retiring from his job in the corporate world in sales and finance for a Fortune 500 company. We carry a number of professional lines as well as Over the Counter Products (OTC), with the needs of our licensed professional clients top of mind.
